ARTIST'S STATEMENT

The main motive for expression derives from sociopolitical injustices as I perceive them, based on research and fact.   Art becomes the translation of fact into a visual poetics aimed at articulating the underlying fundamental human psychologies involved.

I strive for simple, provoking images that ask difficult questions of personal responsibility.   I attempt to find a corresponding means of rendering that facilitates a vague and incomplete result, in effect, assisting in independent interpretive possibilities.

My engagement with art operates under the assumption that it can be a democratic form.   Contemporary art often finds pretension highly fashionable, giving valuable service to power and privilege while alienating the general population.   Art should be accessible and productive, supporting creative thinking and poplar activism rather than focusing its energies on incomprehensible and unproductive discourse.
